Nish in Florida

One of Monty & Rose’s three 2020 chicks, Nish, was spotted in Anclote Key State Park, Florida recently. Danny Sauvageau provided these wonderful photos of Nish exploring and eating on the beach in their winter home.

For all of us who have followed Nish’s growth from an egg on the beach at Montrose in May, to hatching in June, fledging in July, and migrating in August, it’s incredibly gratifying to see this healthy Great Lakes Piping Plover foraging independently.

Anclote Key State Park is west and slightly north of Tampa, 1,130 miles from Montrose Beach; see map below.
